Chandragupta Maurya’s guru was a Vedic Brahmin Acharya Chanakya, who bought Chandragupta Maurya from a couple for some gold coins. Chandragupta Maurya was not a Jain since childhood, so how did he adopt Jainism? Chanakya, the guru of Chandragupta Maurya, who is said to be a Vedic Brahmin, may have been a follower of Jainism. Because in ancient times, Jainism was adopted mostly by Brahmins and Kshatriyas. So Chanakya was definitely influenced by Jainism. Inspired by this, Chandragupta Maurya adopted Jainism.
